New Backdrop

Over the weekend I thought I would make the most of our last sunny day and paint a new backdrop.  I went for black and here is my first attempt of shooting against this backdrop.  The light was pretty grey and harsh yesterday, but I loved experimenting with it.  Roll on Christmas cards.

Green Houses at Felbrigg

One from our holiday in Norfolk.  We visited a fab national trust gardens that had three very rustic and inspiring greenhouses.  I can feel a photobook coming on.

Our Girls - Random Wednesday

Over half way through the holidays and the weeks are flying by.  My girls are growing up, a little more independent each year, but significantly so this year.  I cannot help but feel tearful about empty nest syndrome, even though it's years away.

Pear Still Life

Well while it lasted, we truly made the most of the Sun!  This week we hear that the forecast is mainly rain.  Relieved that the pressure is off watering the garden as I always forget and that I pick up some new wellies for L is summer sales!  Shot these pears yesterday morning, building up my shoot ideas slowly but surely.  Enjoy the weekend.

Blackberries - still life

After the manic season of open houses, exhibitions and working on a couple of commissions, it left me shattered.  Truth be told I felt like I had photographers block.  So after putting my camera away (lasted a week)!  I decided to return to photographing, but out of my love for it rather than working for an audience.  These blackberries, echo how a versatile fruit can be found in such a thorny setting.  When blackberry picking, you are careful, of thorns and staining and often can be foraged.  I have a weakness for found things, for consideration and simplicity.  This pin has fast become my mantra 'live less out of habit and more out of intent.'

Summer Holiday Begins

This is how we started the first day of the six week holiday in Chorleywood with our dear friends visiting from Toronto.  The garden was such a stunning space to chill, play and snap some photos.  Hope that you are off to an amazing start to the summer.  Love that the weather has been so good to us.    For those who follow me on Instagram you will see that we had fun camping and returned safe and sound.
