Today

With the warmth of the autumn sun, the girls and I spent most of the afternoon outside. Walking, playing and collecting sticks. It was a time to talk about shadows and falling leaves. I loved today, sociable and simple.

Fond Farewell

We are all recovering well. Our neighbours little girl will be home tomorrow. So this evening, was my time to catch up on blog reading. It is with sadness, as two of the blogs that I follow are no more. I have found the images, haunting, breathing taking and much inspiration. They are both photographic blogs, real beauty in the everyday types! If you get a chance, please stop by, as they are a little treat not too be missed.

Comfort Time

Oh, not the samples I would have hoped for. Three out of our family of four are battling with a stomach bug, it has been with us since Tuesday, and we are not 100%. Days off work for RW, and LV is off school. Today I finally called the doctor for some further advice, should the youngest get it and he asked if I could come into the surgery to collect some sample tubes, so he could rule out e coli....

Then at bedtime, the neighbours alarm went off, I joined the other neighbours to investigate, as I have spare keys, only to find her anxious grandfather looking after the youngest child, the eldest is in Hospital with severe chest pains....thinking of the little ones today and the comfort of their favourite teddy!

Another Birthday Party

They came, they played, they ate and they dressed up. Party season again. This time it was in the Park, there is something to be said about being outdoors. The weather was perfect, as was the location. There was a huge dressing up tent, balloons and games. The children has so much fun and the set up felt like what communities would have looked like 50 years ago! I snapped away, so the mum of the three could reflect on the day she planned so well.

If it is WORTH it...

.....it's worth the TIME. Life can sometimes cheat us, by simply believing we have time to waste. Daily I remind myself to be completely present in family life, why? Because in the midst of mundane, beauty is waiting to be discovered, children are hearing in our words something about who they are and things that are true need our time. Wish me luck, as I change the small things and give more time to the things I believe in.

Memory Lane

A photographer that my old boss introduced me to still remains with me to this day. My former boss had worked with him on serveral fashion photography projects. His work inspired me not only to see fashion in a different light, but very nature of our surroundings. Anyway hope that you have the time to check out the wonderful and understated beauty of Misha Richter's work.

Tomorrow

On the eve of Jo Whiley's last weekday show on Radio One, I feel a little sad. I have been a faithful listener to her ever since she joined. I find her passion for the new and the knowledge of the old ever enlightening. As a send off, Coldplay are playing a live set from their current tour. So I sit here, in my lounge, before I rest my weary head, listening to 'A rush of Blood', playing Green Eyes, feeling a little tearful...."I came here with a load and it feels so much lighter now I've met you. Honey you should know I could never go on without you.....green eyes...."
The image was one I found some time ago on a blog that no longer exists...if anyone knows any more, please let me know.

Delighting in Dahlia's

On the way to school this morning, we went a little further down the road to cross over and I spotted a stunning display of yellow Dahlia's. I hoping before their beauty fades to enquire if the owners would mind if I snap them. For now, I am enjoying the ones I found yesterday, during a fleeting visit to my in laws. I think that I took about twenty shots, which amused my father in law, as he felt one shot would have been sufficient.

A taste of Isak

There is something quite tantalising about Isak. For a long time now I been a huge fan, it is fueled by their quirky illustration and design, beautiful ideas and the fact that they are based in West Sussex (very close by to me)! I keep thinking what wonderful products they have to offer and how I would like to work for them one day. Let me know what you think? All images are either from Isak website or from Sandra the designer behind Isak's blog.

Clever Parrott

This morning when the post arrived, I was thrilled! A little late I know, but LV's woven school labels arrived, so I will get busy sewing them into her uniform later today. Also a while ago I ordered some very dear note cards, designed by Sarah at Parrott design Studio. I was introduced to Parrott by a cherished friend (JR), who generously bought me some personalised note cards. So as an end of summer treat, I bought the above.

House of Morris

A few weeks back we visited our friends in St Albans, they are preparing for being parents for the first time, so I snapped the baby's room and a scene from their sideboard. I love the thought that has gone into their home and their mutual love for vintage!

All things New

Carrying my thoughts about new seasons and new things. This morning we were up early and booked in LV's haircut, ready for her first day at school on Monday, we bought school shoes, a water beaker and the last minute bits for her school uniform. On our return from the shops, the post had arrive. So I grabbed a well deserved drink of fresh lemon juice and sat and read my Elle decoration for twenty minutes!!! Found this lovely piece on Bluebellgray, a Scottish textile design company, they are relatively new, so the website is a work in progress, but I hope that you are inspired by the watercolour textiles. I am particularly fond of the wall hangings, let me know what you think of them?

We're Back.

Honestly, this summer feels like a blur. It has been filled with days out, nights away and friends coming to play. But today marks a change in season. Firstly, there is a chill in the air, secondly, preparation for the start of a school term for my eldest. We are busy unpacking, repacking and organising. We have given up TV for a while, as we needed more time for our hobbies and to do what we love the most: read. Our home has an under current of new things for a new season, so each morning is meet with excitment for the day ahead. So, even though our summer was filled with lazy days in public gardens, our garden and other people's gardens. I am fully embracing the next season, of layers, muddy puddles and autumn colours. To mark this change, I wanted to share the last of my summer snaps, my in-laws' garden!
