Two by Two

Growing up in North London, I lived opposite a Jewish bakery which ignited my love for Challah bread and bagels.  My girls have same weakness for bread and butter as I do.  Any how I snapped away over the weekend before it turned grey and wet.  After looking through which ones to use in my latest random post, I thought I would use two images for each shot this time.

Blue and White

So far my New Year's resolution to be more purposeful is working.  I do a few hours of errands and then I have the time that I have been craving to take photographs.  However I have six 'to sort boxes' that is still untouched, but at the ironing is not to horrific and the girls can see their bedroom floor!  I am practising my styling skills, so be prepared for some random collaborations.

Styling Lemons Still Life

Today I had an hour or so to make the most of the sun and style some ideas.  I like the idea of using half a table, so I am playing around with that at the moment.  I used lemons as I love them, the smell, the properties and the pop of yellow.  Isn't this month flying by!!

Oranges Still Life

We are craving vitamin C in our household, hence the splendid navel oranges.  It would be rather rude if I didn't snap them.  However the only decent available light this morning was in our hallway, so please excuse our shot to pieces wall!  I am thinking it adds texture to the image.

Portrait of C yesterday

Truth be told my girls are rarely willing now days to strike a pose for me, whilst I try out different settings/light etc... On the odd occasion I can persuade them for five minutes to oblige me.  These are the results of my latest five minutes.

An apple a day

Now when I shoot, I am thinking about my next photo book.  How I can change the moods of my still life images.  If you have never done a photo book and thinking of it, I highly recommend doing so.  Wishing you a super fine weekend.

Portrait of L

The last two weekends in a row L has allowed me to take some photos of her.  Admittedly I frustrated her a little with my plea's for one more shot, just another etc.  Anyway L was browsing through my blog as she has plans of starting her own, when she noted that I have not posted any of my January shots of her.  Today I rectified this by posting 4 in a row!

Random Sunday

A few shots over the last two weeks in order to make the most of glimpses of winter sunlight.  There is something that alights in me when the sun comes out especially on cold grey days.  Usually I am not very good at keeping a diary, if remembered I may jot something down on the calendar.  However in January I put a few pre arranged dates in as I find it such an adjustment month, new year, new goals, new term etc, that I need a few bits to look forward to.

Artifact Uprising Book

When R asked me what I would like for Christmas, I asked for a photo book.  I happily spent hours pouring over the page layouts and choosing photos.  I order my soft book option via Artifact Uprising.  Yesterday it arrived and for those who follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you would have sensed how excited I was with it's arrival.  For years I would view my photography on screen only, but over the last year or so, I have been more regular in ordering prints.  It feels so special to see them in print and after months on pinning Artifact Uprising products on pinterest I was thrilled to take the plunge and order a photo book.

Red Onions Still Life

Today was day two of sunshine!  I took the opportunity to photograph a new still life image.  With my Christmas money from my in laws I treated myself to this stunning damson linen runner, bought with the sole purpose to photograph.  Thank you for the New Wishes and new followers, I am always touched to read such encouraging words.  Today as I sat in the kitchen drinking a cuppa, my thoughts drifted into how fast this year will fly by, as every year really flies by.  I am hoping that I will be brave enough to push some new doors!  I am thinking of arranging a few meetings in London to get some advice on how to take my photography forward.

Happy New Year

Hope that you all had a super Christmas and ready for what 2014 has in store.  Any goals?  Mine is to try a new recipe every month and read more books!
