Can't Help but Love It

I found this poster some time ago, I was hoping that my husband would get it for our ten year anniversary last July...alas it was a wasted hint! Anyway I just heard that they have re-issued it, so you know come July 09 I may own one!

Royal Mail British Stamps

Here are a selection of Royal Mail stamps from the Design Classics. I saw these over the weekend in one of the papers and it made me think of my dear friend JG soon to be JR. She is an English girl elsewhere who can appreciate the ironic designs, featured here. This series celebrates British design classics and for further images please visit www.royalmail.com As a former stamp collector I am going to have to give in and buy myself a presentation pack!

Remembering Lewes

Lewes is a very quint, inspiring village a short drive away from our home. It boasts fine food places, such like Bill's and Real food eating company. Also fantastic independents and antique shops. But it is the history of this place, that causes me to yearn for another visit. The views are breath taking, the cobbled roads, and Victorian architecture.
On a day like today, so bright and sunny, I imagine myself in such a place. For today I am only imagining as I am nursing a poorly CLJ again, yes I must confess I didn't make to the doctor's with her last week, but our appointment is in for 9.25am tomorrow. I am sitting at my desk listening to the birds singing and feeling excited that summer is a matter of months away.

Lounge Lighting

It has been a long time coming, but we are ready to commit to buying lighting for our lounge. After 16 months of making do with exposed and bear energy bulbs, we have decided to dress them. In what? Well, we like the idea of finding traditional looks with a modern twist. With our high ceilings and big space, we have been tempted to go down the Chandelier route, but we still feel it is too obvious . So here is one of the many images, I will no doubt post in the next couple of weeks, as we process our possible choice!

Tired Today

Here is a recent photo of my girls. Today is Day 3 of them being poorly, I think that they have a cold or fighting of something, as it only comes on late afternoon and through the night. If it doesn't improve over the weekend, we are off to the doctor's come Monday. Oh I hate going to the doctors. I need some serious sleep, so grateful that it's the weekend.

New Cushion for our bedroom

I stumbled across Thornback and Peel, in a gift shop in Lewes. They also do tea towels which I adore. Anyway I found this cushion in RUME in Hove, it now sits on the armchair in our bedroom. Please check them out on www.thronbackandpeel.co.uk Thornback and Peel celebrate British quirkiness in their textile designs. The hand printed designs pay attention to detail and slightly unusual images.

Everyday

I ordered a couple of books last week, which arrived this morning. They are making things type books, hopefully to be viewed on my blog soon!
Anyhow, there was quote that instantly spoke to me!

In dwelling, live close to the ground. In thinking, keep it simple. In conflict, be fair and generous. In governing, don't try to control. In work, do what you enjoy. In family life, be completely present. - Tao Te Ching

Anyway it has given me some food for thought on this chore filled morning.

LV feeling the cold

Could I have possibly underdressed my eldest? She claimed to be cold within minutes of leaving home.

Our Road covered in snow

Here it is, evidence of the snow downfall. Yes it reached us in West Sussex. Loved that RWM could work from home. Loved that grown men threw snowballs like teenagers. Loved that walking through the village, there was a stillness as people embraced the snowy weather.

Words I like today

With the country covered in snow, the heaviest downfall in nearly 20 years. It made me think about England, new beginnings, friendships, God, comfort food and my husband working from home. So I decided to cut out favourite words for today and snap it for my photo journal.
