Back at Bill's

I enjoy making the most of living so close to Lewes. Kathie and I decided to potter around the antique shops and make a stop the ever inspiring Bill's. We made the most of the sunny day, although bitterly cold. Kathie made a a list, as did I, hers a little neater than mine! It was such a special afternoon, not to be taken for granted. Anyway here are few snaps from our little outing.

Today

Borrowed items returned
Clara is walking now
Song by Broken Bells
Last Friday Clara started walking and we bought her first proper shoes yesterday. She is loving her new found freedom, but older sister Lydia can't understand why she is not ready for a game of chase! The items borrowed from my lovely friend have now been returned, I loved photographing them. This song has been going around in my head for weeks now, so I was delighted to see the super clever video on myspace. The song is The High Road by James Mercer of the Shins and producer Danger Mouse. I cannot wait for the album to be released sometime in March.

Mulberry Home

This is what happens when Monday morning starts and continues to be grey. I end up searching the web for uplifting images. So after spending an hour on flickr, I popped over to Mulberry home. I love the old school feel to there designs and I can imagine the warmth of layering the heavily patterned fabric in a country home. But enough of that, the reality my day of chores is calling so I will leave you with two of my favourite images!

Borrowed Items

A friend in our village, kindly lent me some items to photograph. As it was a bit brighter today, I thought that I would make the most of them and snap away at our kitchen table. Also the top image happens to be my three most favourite cooking ingredients.

Miss Print

It is fast approaching a whole year since Clara has been in her own room. She truly has the smallest bedroom. In light of this, it has still taken us the same amount of time to decide on a wallpaper design for her feature wall. We've gone all pink (second image down) and opted for the stunning design by a lovely duo behind Miss Print, who are based in East London. Besides their stylish wallpaper, they do much more including lampshades!

My Window Sill

In reference to previous mention of window sill's a few weeks ago. I have been snapping some finds against Lydia's window sill, as she has the only timber sash in our house. We hope that one day, we'll be able to reinstate original sash windows throughout. But in the meantime, I get to enjoy the one we have!

Midday Snack

When the sun is out and the sky is blue, I remember only too well what a dilemma I face when in comes to chores or disappearing outside for the day. You will be pleased to know that instead of popping out (maybe at a National Trust House or pottering around the antique shops Lewes). I decided to be responsible and do some clearing up, ironing and sort out the toy cupboard. I felt it only right to start all of these, after a midday snack of crumpets and cheddar!

Found Time

Compared to yesterday our day started wet, with snow falls and a lot colder. Whilst Clara had a mid morning nap, I emptied the dishwasher and then snap a few objects at our kitchen table.

Waiting for Spring...

In relation to my last post it may just rain tomorrow, instead of more snow! Today started off dull and cold, but really brighten up. I was thrilled to snap signs of spring and glorious sunlight against leaves. Please no more grey days!!

Hanging Birds

With news that more snow is on the way, I ventured into Brighton. I needed to get my shopping done, what with birthdays on the way and new babies being born. Really I should have set a wash off, sorted my paperwork and taken the bags of clothes sitting on our landing to the charity shop. Maybe tomorrow I will get around to hanging these charming enamel birds I bought a while back!? How have you started this week?

Wallpaper Crush- Jocelyn Warner

When it comes to Jocelyn Warner, I cannot help but feel like a stalker. I keep finding myself putting her images and designs on mood boards. I particularly like the styling in the above and convinces me that she can do no wrong!

Randoms

Photography by Matt & Jo

Our Fireplace arrangement

Today has been an enjoyable day of randoms. We felt in limbo as we had an architect over for most of the day sketching our downstairs living area and asking lots of questions. So my daily quest in ironing and pottering didn't really happen. Both Richard and I felt very inspired by his visit and we have plenty to mull over. However I cannot help but feel nervous over the cost of the project and having builders in and out again. So I opted for distraction in the form of framing the photos that our talented friends shot of our girls last summer and rearranging our fireplace!

Wallpaper Crush

There is something about wallpaper that makes a room feel well dressed. It doesn't have to be grand or vivid to inject a change. For me the idea of walls bringing the outside in, is a perfect fix, as we get ready for my favourite season (spring). The Sanderson collections The Painters Garden and Osterley has a lightness of floral that will awaken our walls from a winter slumber.

Nancy & Betty

The top drawer of my bureau is full with note cards and writing paper, that I have lovingly collected along the way. However I am sure that I can find a little room for some more. The above is a fab collection by Nancy & Betty aka Hannah Bidmead. Her website is bursting with delights that you want to send to a friend or two! Along with the fab design, I enjoyed learning the dear story of the origins of the name. Hannah named her studio after her grandma and her twin sister.

Our walk home

We ventured out this morning to the local shops. A simple journey that took double time, as pushing a buggy in the snow is harder than I thought. On my way home, I figured a treat was deserving, a chocolate flake and two interior magazines. (Thought of you Laura, hope you are back online soon)!

It's Cold Outside

The novelty of snowy days are wearing thin. I admit, cold weather and I rarely see eye to eye. Our girls love the snow, I love taking photos of the snow and I especially love snow at Christmas. However in the light of trying to get out and about, I am at a stand still. This afternoon has been all about Chocolate Hob Nob's, green tea and listening to Kate Tucker and sons of Sweden.

Window Sill

Saw the beautiful K this morning. It was lovely, I ranted on about creative musings and look forward to seeing her on Thursday. I found these two beautiful and gentle images on another blog http://lacencake.blogspot.com/ equally beautiful, so please check it out. I am curious what you are going to do differently this year or new things are you planning to embark on?!

I visited Hula Seventy this morning and was very inspired by her reflection list. So LV & I decided to make our very own list for this year. So far we want to make pom pom's, visit the Balloon Fiesta in Bristol later this year and start collecting vintage table linen....
The above snaps are of my recent Christmas gifts that are being put to good use.
