Undiscovered Possiblities

Unbeknown to me why? I have been a little excited over nothing much in particular today. The weather was warm and sunny, we had errands to run, we saw some friends, Richard has been home at a good time everyday this week, so I can only surmise that it must be a combination of the little things, that have me buzzing with joy! Have you ever been excited over nothing in particular or is it just me?

Considering that over five years ago I used to work in fashion, I completely lost interest in it since motherhood. I guess my fashion passion was put on a back burner. Over the years I hardly glance at Vogue magazine or waste my little energy on going to the shops. However these days, I have found myself flicking through websites and brochures in the hope of being inspired. Also for me, there is something about this Autumn layering, the warm muted colours, scarfs and boots, that have me in a spin. This season saltwater a favourite of mine, has convinced me that the cable knit short sleeve cardigan will go with everything!

Getting There

Some people make organisation look effortless. I am not that kind of person, in fact I am a little concerned that most of my friends keep their expectations of me pretty low, in the hopes that I will exceed them. I hate to admit, but often I am late. I am trying to change. Since our girls came along, I feel that I owe them days, when the are not worrying that I may forget something important to them. So my blog days, have been a little infrequent of late, as I am trying to put some changes in place, I have a diary, I write lists and busy organising the home that everything will have a place. Our store cupboard, are filled with jars, as not to over buy bags of pasta. Also over the next few days, I will be posting my finds and inspirations for Autumn...watch this space.

Sunlit weekend

Finally I feel more relaxed and confident in my decision. I was able to put the start of last week behind me and enjoy the sun. This really is someone's back garden and love the mix of the window box and the collection of flowers. Heres hoping for a peaceful week.

Mother

Today it feels like the hardest of jobs. The heart break and weighing up decisions. My mother died nearly fifteen years ago....I miss her. I could have done with someone like her to cry to today.

Dressing Up

This week we have been taking stock. Thinking about work, the girls settling into the next year, our friendships and enjoying not rushing around. Each afternoon, we have had home time play...todays was all about dressing up and role playing. Less really is More.

Gathering Sticks

Today we were planning to have a family walk. Alas our trip into London for a friends party, used up what little energy we had left from a hectic start to a new term. Anyway on our walk we had the intention of gathering sticks for kindling. This idea was greeted with much enthusiasm as our girls love collecting sticks, leaves, feathers and flowers when outdoors. In the light of having no sticks today, I remembered this post about stick men by Savannah Miller for Vogue Online.

Sweetcorn

Even though the Sun is shining today has a very autumnal feel about it. After taking L to school, C and I popped to a nearby town and bought some sweetcorn from a local farmer. Here is a snap taken minutes after arriving home and just before the sun went in!
