Last days of the summer

We are slowing down and enjoying the last days of the summer.  Of course we are still making the most of the sun, not making plans, just seeing how the day pans out!  I shot these at two different National Trust properties.  Are you making plans for September?  Thinking about Autumn?

Holiday Sisters

Our youngest has a fondness of doing 'accents' mainly made up, but sounding ever so 'barbie/American.  She is most adorable when doing this, her latest thing to say is "we are best sisters ever" in an accent.  I've been referring to them as the 'holiday sisters' setting off for adventures of pretending to be on 'holiday' together and living in their own  hotel room, I invent these scenarios to distract them for the fact that they are growing a little bored of each other....it's working for now but still one and bit weeks to go!

Natural Texture

Whilst on holiday I was trying to theme some shots, firstly to have some discipline when taking photos, as the temptation for me when away is to record everything.  My second reason is that I am planning the layout of my calendar and I have a strict list of images outstanding.  I picked these three as my natural texture as they had elements.  On another note, happy to report that school shoes have been picked and purchased...yippee no last minute panic shopping!

Our Devon Break

We headed off to Devon for a last minute get away.  It was very relaxing and inspired.  I love visiting Devon it never disappoints me.  The above shots I took at Compton Castle (a national trust property and gardens).  Grateful that our girls still love to the worksheets of activities at these places.

Flora Series {13}

These little gems were home grown but for the life of me, I have forgotton the name of these flowers.  I shot these today as a part of my flora series.  This summer is flying and what it making it so easy is the wonderful weather, grateful for the sunshine.  Next week, we have a jam packed week and will try to post but if I don't get around to it, please bear with me or visit me over at pinterest.

Matching Dresses

For a while our girls have been pleading for me to buy them matching dresses.  I've avoided this successfully for sometime...not sure why?  But the idea never grabbed me.  So, you know when you buy one item online, its like opening pandoras box as you get a flurry of emails.  It doesn't bother me too much, as it keeps me informed with the outside world to a small degree.  Anyway when the summer sale emails came through, I browsed through them, with the idea of 'matching' dresses.  A few weekends ago, we joined a close friend in celebrating her birthday, the girls helped me picked these Joules dresses for them to wear.  It was lovely seeing them so excited to be wearing the same dresses, one insisting on wearing them with sandals and socks and the other casually sporting her dearly loved high tops.  I never grew with my siblings, so I am forever learning about this bond and companionship.  As I snapped away, I felt humbled by this minor wish, as it meant so much to the girls.

Prop Finds

We started the day fairly early, thanks to C waking us up in her cutest voice.  The opportunity was not wasted, as I popped to the car boot to find some props to photograph and to sell.  Yes, to sell!  A friend gave me some advice to start building up my stall with props that I've used and ready to sell on.  It makes sense, as at these craft events, the lower items sell out faster than the large prints.  I am looking forward to have a little vintage find section selling items for under £5.00.

Sheffield Park

When we decided to visit Sheffield Park (National Trust) yesterday, we were not aware that it was going to be the hotest day of the year so far.  In fact I heard that the last time the 1st of August hit temperatures like that was in 2003.  So our visit was all about ice water, finding trees to stay shaded and to make a quick exit home.
