Indoors

Armed with my list of things to do today, I was hampered by weather conditions. So after getting the spare room ready for our guests next weekend. I snapped the flowers indoors. I am hoping to get some outdoor shots of the beach huts and Nymans in the next couple of days. Also thank you V for your post, it was such a timely encouragement.

Weekend in Pictures

We had our first weekend at home all together as a family this month. Saturday was L's infant school summer fete, where she got her face painted. We took a scroll through the bluebell woods, went out for coffee, visited Grandpa and Granny, continued gardening and bought a few bits of costume jewellery. I hope that you are enjoying the summer weather.

One day...

During May around the Brighton area, we have Artist Open House day's...I really do try to pop in. Each year I vow to make the most of having this opportunity on our doorstep and end up grabbing the last hour or two before it finishes. I get so inspired and then look for things in my messy room, or save things, buy things in the hope that I would effortlessly throw together a work of art! It never happens....
One of the Artists showing this month is the wonderful Simon Royer...I am completely drawn to his work, in particular the fish series. If we had the wall space, this would warrant a super hint to my husband for a forthcoming birthday gift!

Close to Home

This morning the sun was out and L was feeling better. After play gym, C and I returned an overdue library book. We walked a different route and I made the most of the natural light, as the Sun had made a quick exit. My favourite find was the cowslip, as I often pass verges that boast a plentiful display, but I am usually in the car with two tired or bored children. I love the British countryside and wildlife and would like to spend time exploring and learning more.

48 Hours

The last forty-eight hours a been memorable, exhausting, a revelation and gratefully shared with loved ones. We sat outside in the garden this morning recovering, as we are not really able to leave the house, as L has a tummy bug. She is a lot brighter today and looks as if she is on the mend. However my husband and I are a little shattered from the broken sleep! We flew to Jersey on Friday to celebrate with our super dear friends their wedding on Saturday. L & I had the privilege of being a part of the bridal party. It was so emotional to be a part of this very special day. We only wished more photos had been taken and we had stayed a little longer. The cupcakes are a snapshot of the stunning wedding cake display, creatively and lovingly made by the Bride's talented sister.
ps. Currently listening to Laura Marling's recent album I speak because I can

Mirror Mirror

Today has been a little busy. We are trying to get organised with regards to a close friend getting married...watch this post for snap shots in the big day. Anyhow, I thought I would play with the idea of shooting a flower picked from our garden on a mirror side table we have. Here's my first attempt. (Please excuse the dust on the table)!

Summer Fruits

The warmer months certainly help make snacking on fruit easy, I guess it's because of the wide variety available. This is not only great for our health, but in providing me many subjects and rich colours to photograph. The watermelon was photographed on a newly acquired china purchase from a car boot sale. I was instantly drawn to the peacock detail...something about birds!

Nelly the Elephant

By now, it is becoming a little obvious that I have a picture/print addiction. I love seeing so many homes, displaying a wonderful mix of print and oils, vintage and modern frames and the thought and expanse of grouping these together. The talented Betsy Benn's prints has grabbed my attention, in particular this Nelly the Elephant inspire one. Her warmth radiates in her work and she is certainly on my watch list!

In house

Dropping Lego behind the sofa!
L's drawing of a hippo taking a bath.

The last two evenings there has been such a chill in the air that we have headed home straight after school. We watched a dvd, played with lego and did some drawings. As much as I like lounging around at home, we are hoping for sunshine in the garden over the weekend.

Found Photos

This afternoon I was sorting through some paper work and found some photos that I bought last summer from a car boot sale. I wanted to save them until I found more, but alas the search has been slow. I was inspired and moved by these glimpses into motherhood. I sometimes tend to rush through life willing on the next stage or experience, ever now again I have to remind myself to enjoy the everyday....the little hands that take ours when they are in our familiar settings, sitting under trees on a hot day and reading books together. The face of parenting keeps on evolving and some things get lost along the way.

Colourful Day

With a long weekend ahead, I loved that we were able to jump on a train to Brighton and watch the Children's Parade. Granted we were late as our eldest had a melt down about wanting a lazy morning and not having to rush. Also my lovely husband and I were distracted by a decision that would mean we have to change how we celebrate our 12th year Anniversary this July! So things were not as smooth running as I would have liked, but we made it and our girls loved the colours, noise and the new experience.
